Earlier in the week I had been joyfully working on some glorious autumn color pieces.  No one does color and light like Autumn does. Then I glanced out of the window and realized I was too late.Looking  through my window on the woods  I saw that  the world had changed. The color is gone The woods looks like a t looks like a huge monochromatic mono-print.

November should be the month assigned to do this type of art. There are live models all over the place.  Everywhere I look, grey, black, shades of white and tan. Old browns and mossy beiges.  I am in the mood to cooperate with nature so I am responding with these monochromatic works.

Spring-Running a Little Late This Year

“Grassland Diaries-First Snow ” mixed media collage, paper, acrylics, ink

At the beginning of the year I discovered some new cutting techniques thats enabled me to create a wild type of Grass that I found very intriguing. It was love at first sight, or at first cut. However the  technique was very labor intensive  sometimes involving over a hundred cuts. This intense process did not suit my situation of having carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. When  I underwent two surgeries for my hand  issues I put my winter grasses on hold. During my recovery I pursued less intense art forms while my hands recovered. So now, even though it is Spring, I am returning to winter and finishing the job I started.

Somehow, in the midst of this  Pandemic experience, returning to winter does not seem all that odd.
